RADFORD, Va. – Freshman Stephanie Cox (Stafford, Va.) was tabbed the NorPac East Defensive Player of the Week, announced the conference office Tuesday afternoon. The rookie back played a key factor in Radford’s conference victory at Appalachian State on Sunday.
Cox made a crucial defensive save in each half of the 3-1 triumph over the Mountaineers. The win helped secure a share of the NorPac East Division, the Highlanders’ third title in five years of divisional play. The Brooke Point High School product also got involved offensively, assisting on Radford’s first goal of the match. Both of her defensive stops and the helper were firsts in Cox’s collegiate career.
Radford (9-8, 5-1 NorPac East) closes out its regular season with a pair of non-conference road tests at No. 3 Virginia on Wednesday, Oct. 28 at 5 p.m. and Georgetown on Sunday, Nov. 1 at 11 a.m. The contest against the Hoyas will be played at American University.
