TULSA, Okla. – Radford’s
Ivan Salec (Oroslavje, Croatia / Oroslavje Secondary School) cruised by Virginia’s Houston Barrick in straight-sets (6-4, 6-0) Tuesday afternoon to advance to the third round (qualifying singles) of the 2009 D'Novo ITA All-American Championships at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center.
"Ivan played a very intelligent match against a tough and fair opponent in Barrick," commented Radford head coach Mike Anderson. "Barrick played a match yesterday that went to three tiebreakers, and I believe was a little tired. But Ivan stayed with the game plan and played a great match"
Salec will face South Florida’s Wael Kilani, who advanced to day three with two-set victories over Aleksey Bessonov (Oklahoma State) and Attila Bucko (Baylor). The third round match between Salec and Kilani is scheduled to start at 11 a.m.
Tomorrow’s victor between Salec and Kilani will move on to the main draw, which is scheduled to begin Thursday.
Qualifying singles and doubles will be played Monday, Oct. 5th through Wednesday, Oct. 7th, followed by Main Draw singles and doubles on Thursday, Oct. 8th through Sunday Oct. 11th.
