TULSA, Okla. – Fresh off upsetting the fourth-ranked player in the nation, Radford’s Ivan Salec (Oroslavje, Croatia) won his fifth match in as many days recording a straight-set victory (6-4, 6-3) over Louisville’s Austen Childs in the second consolation round of the D'Novo ITA All-American Championships main draw.

Salec, who eliminated No. 4 Nate Schnugg of Georgia earlier in the day, 6-0, 6-7 (6), 6-2, is just one of eight players remaining in the consolation bracket of the main draw.

The two-time all-conference performer and 2008 Big South Freshman of the Year advanced to the main draw with wins over UCLA’s Amit Inbar (3-6, 7-5, 6-3), Virginia’s Houston Barrick (6-4, 6-0) and South Florida’s Wael Kilani, 6-1, 5-7, 7-6 (2), before falling in three sets (3-6, 6-2, 4-6) to Auburn’s top singles player, Tim Puetz, in the opening round Thursday.

Through six matches this week, Salec has defeated the 4th, 12th, 50th and 73rd ranked players in the country.

Salec returns to the court Saturday at 11 a.m. against the victor of Matt Brooklyn (UCLA) and Chase Buchanan (Ohio State) in round three of the main draw consolation bracket.
