Aramburu Selected Freshman of the Week

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – For the second time this season, Desiree Aramburu (Chicago, Ill. / Mother McAuley) of the Radford volleyball team has been named the Big South Conference Crons Brand Freshman of the Week, as announced by the league office Monday afternoon.
“I’m very pleased that Des was chosen for the Freshman of the Week honor," commented second-year head coach Marci Jenkins. "She has been doing a nice job the last few weeks of the season, and it’s always good when the conference recognizes someone’s achievements.”
For the week, Aramburu finished with 118 assists (9.08 apg.), 11 kills, four service aces, 38 digs, six total blocks and two double-doubles, while contributing 18 total points.
Aramburu began the week with 38 assists and 15 digs in Radford’s 3-1 victory at High Point. She backed that performance with 49 more assists and 15 digs against Winthrop before capping the three-match slate with five kills (.308), 31 assists, three service aces, eight digs and two more blocks against Coastal Carolina.
The Highlanders will enjoy a week break before returning to action Saturday, Nov. 7 when they host Charleston Southern. The “Senior Day” match is slated to begin at 2 p.m.
