STANFORD, Calif. – Sophomores
Courtney Poole (Gloucester, Va./Gloucester) and
Madonna Wadolowski (Norwalk, Conn./Brien McMahon) connected on second half goals, lifting Radford to a 2-0 victory over UC Davis in first round of the NorPac Tournament. It also was the 10th victory this season for Radford, a first since 1996 when it finished 10-8.

With the win, the Highlanders (10-9) advance to the semifinals against the the second seed in the West California, tomorrow, Nov. 6 at 7 pm EST. The Bears defeated Davidson, 2-1, in an overtime thriller.
After a scoreless first half, the Highlanders took advantage of their sixth corner to break the deadlock at 41:39. Radford’s leading goal scorer, Poole, banged home a rebound after sophomore
Marlee Schramm’s (Mantua, N.J./West Deptford) shot was saved by UCD’s Lauren Sawvelle. It was the first team all-conference selection’s 10th goal of the season.
Wadolowski doubled Radford’s lead to 2-0 in the 52nd minute on a corner. Her shot from the left deflected off a UC Davis defender and into the roof of the cage. Classmate
Lynsey Daughtrey (Suffolk, Va./Lakeland) was credited with the assist on the insert, her seventh on the year.
Radford’s defense held off a late push by the Aggies for the victory. The Highlanders outshot the Aggies, 12-8 and held a 7-4 advantage in corners. UC Davis did not earn its first corner until the 45th minute.
Junior
Jen Wisniewski (Centerville, Va./Westfield) made four saves, three in the second half for the Highlanders. It was the East Division Defensive Player of the Year’s fourth shutout of the season.
Sawvelle made six saves for the Aggies. Nadia Namdari paced UCD with three shots.
Radford and UC Davis played a scoreless first half. The Highlanders out shot the Aggies, 7-3 and earned all four corners. UCD keeper Lauren Sawvelle made three saves, while Wisniewski stopped one shot.
