RADFORD, Va. -- After a week away from action, Radford will conclude its 2009 regular season home slate with a 2 p.m. “Senior Day” match against Charleston Southern Saturday afternoon at the Dedmon Center.
Prior to the contest, the Highlander Volleyball Program and Department of Athletics will recognize seniors
Lexi Miller (Glen Ellyn, Ill. / Glenbard West) and
Lauren Clary (Roanoke, Va. / Cave Spring) for their contributions both on and off the court.
Unable to compete this year due to injury, Miller will finish her career in a Highlander uniform with more than 600 kills and 179 total blocks, which ranks fourth all-time at Radford. To go along with her career totals, Miller recorded double-digit kills on 20 occasions, including a career-high 20 against Big South rival Liberty as a freshman. Off the court, Miller has excelled in the classroom earning her way onto the Dean’s List as well as Big South Presidential Honor Roll.
One of the most versatile players in Radford volleyball history, Lauren Clary has spent time as both an outside hitter and libero. The product of Cave Spring High School will finish her career with more than 500 kills, 100 assists, 100 service aces and 1300 digs. Twice during her four-year career, Clary has earned a spot on an all-tournament team, including this season after posting 33 kills and 49 digs at the Davidson Wildcat Classic. Off the court, Clary is a member of both the Dean’s List and Student-Athlete Advisory Council.
Following Radford’s regular season finale next Saturday at Presbyterian, the Highlanders will host the eight-team 2009 Big South Volleyball Tournament Nov. 19-21 at the Dedmon Center on the campus of Radford University.
