CONWAY, S.C. – Joseph Anderson scored twice for Coastal Carolina, closing out the Big South men’s soccer regular season with a 3-1 win over Radford on Saturday night.

With the win, the Chanticleers (8-2-6, 5-0-1 Big South) claimed the top seed in the 2009 Big South men’s soccer tournament, which begins next Thursday (Nov. 12) at Vert Stadium on the campus of High Point University.  The Highlanders (4-8-3, 1-4-3) will be the seventh seed and face host High Point, the second-seeded team, at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Junior Brendan Shaffer (Haymarket, Va./Battlefield) scored his first career goal for Radford in the 75th minute, cutting Coastal Carolina’s lead to 3-1.  The Highlanders outshot Coastal Carolina 10-8.

Anderson’s first came in the 25th minute off a pass from Luis Faz, and his second was the clincher for Coastal, a strike in the 46th off Djamel Bekka’s corner kick.

Bekka gave Coastal Carolina insurance in the 70th minute.

Radford sophomore goalkeeper Ryan Taylor (Midlothian, Va./Midlothian) had three saves.
