Final Results
ROCK HILL, S.C. – Junior Raschad Kelso’s (Appomattox, Va./Appomattox) first-place finish in the 200m dash finals highlighted a soggy final day of competition for the Radford track & field teams at the Winthrop/Asics Invitational at Irwin Belk Complex on Saturday.
Kelso, who set a new school record in the qualifying heats on Friday, topped the field with a time of 21.52 in Saturday’s final.
In other finals, senior Jovan Coker (Mechanicsville, Va./Atlee) finished second among collegiate competitors with a time of 49.03 in the 400m dash.
In the 1,500m run, Radford got 1-2 finishes from seniors Joel Hanlon (Winchester, Va./Millbrook) and Dawit Legesse (Springfield, Va./Robert E. Lee). Hanlon took first with a time of 4:00.10, and Legesse checked in at 4:03.57. Both times were new individual bests.
Radford’s 4x100 team of Kelso, junior Olajuwon Jones (Indianapolis, Ind./Speedway), and freshmen Ronquis Posey (Emporia, Va./Brunswick) and Brett Olinger (Timberville, Va./Broadway) clocked a second place finish with a time of 41.29, topping the team’s previous Big South-best time of 42.02 at the Coastal Carolina Invitational.
In women’s competition, sophomore Britney Whittaker (Pilot, Va./Radford) finished fourth in the 800m with a time of 2:19.00, a new personal best.
Sophomore Halsey Sinclair (Silver Spring, Md./Montgomery Blair) posted a top-ten showing in the 1,500m run, finishing fifth at 4:56.51.
