WOMEN'S TENNIS RALLIES PAST GARDNER-WEBB FOR FOURTH STRAIGHT WIN

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. –
Despite dropping the doubles point, Radford won the top four singles matches to record its fourth straight win, a 4-3 victory over Gardner-Webb in Big South women’s tennis action Sunday afternoon.

The Highlanders improve to 6-3 overall and 1-1 in conference, while the Runnin’ Bulldogs drop to 5-4 overall and 1-1 in conference.

The lone win in doubles action came from the Highlander tandem of Mia Drobnjak (Zagreb, Croatia/Sporska Gimnazija) and Sara Tegner (Amal,Sweden/Karlbergs Gymnasium) who defeated Ioana Oprea/Rita Gouveia, 8-4, to push their record to 6-1 at No.2 doubles.

In singles action, Drobnjak got Radford on the board with a, 6-3, 6-4, win over Erica White at the No.1 position. Petra Dajevic tied the math at 2-2 with a straight-set victory over Rita Gouveia on court three.

Mirna Matic (Umag, Croatia/Vladmir Gortan, Buje) gave the Highlanders a 3-2 advantage with a 6-3, 2-6, 6-1 win over Kasey Ellis at the No. 4 position. Ivana Tomaic sealed the win for Radford with 7-6, 7-6, win against Ioana Oprea at the No. 2 position.

The Highlanders return to action March 19 against Howard at 2:00 pm.
