Assistant Athletic Trainer





Kathy Hickman joined Radford as an assistant athletic trainer in July of 2008, and manages the health care for the Highlander women's basketball and men's tennis teams.

Certifications for Hickman include NATABOC, American Heart Association CPR/AED and First Aid, and VATL.

Hickman came to Radford from Virginia Tech, where she worked directly with the Hokie volleyball and men's tennis teams as a graduate/doctoral assistant.   Her time at Tech also included undergraduate teaching experience in topics ranging from shoulder and knee injuries, to emergency situations.

Prior to Virginia Tech, Hickman was an athletic training intern at her alma mater, Grand Valley State University, where she worked with the Laker baseball program.  She also handled athletic training assignments at GVSU as an undergraduate, working directly with the women's soccer and football programs.

Hickman holds a bachelor's in physical education (athletic training emphasis) from GVSU, and earned her master's in education and health promotion from Virginia Tech in 2006.  She is currently working towards a doctorate at Virginia Tech.
