Dr. Delmas Bolin
Head Athletic Team Physician
Dr. Delmas Bolin, a Primary Care Physician and Sports Medicine Specialist joins Radford University as its Head Team Physician for Intercollegiate Athletics.
Bolin began working with Radford student-athletes during the 2007-08 academic year, and now joins the program on a full-time basis directing the athletic training health care delivery team composed of five Staff Certified Athletic Trainers, two Certified Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainers, and the student athletic trainer’s enrolled in Radford’s accredited undergraduate athletic training program.
"I am very excited to be representing VCOM (Virginia College of Osteopathic Medicine) in caring for student-athletes at Radford," Bolin said. "I think it's impressive what Robert and Dave have done here in such a short period of time, and I'm delighted to be a part of athletics at Radford."
Bolin, whose background includes training in non-operative orthopedics and biomechanics, is the Director of the Center for Sports Medicine in Salem and an Associate Professor with VCOM. He spent the last five years as the men's basketball team physician at Virginia Tech.
Dr. Bolin completed a PhD in biochemistry and his medical degree from the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Urbana-Champaign and a residency at Michigan State University in family medicine. Bolin also completed a sports fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, working with the team physicians for the University of Pittsburgh as well as the Pittsburgh Penguins and Steelers.
Dr. Bolin currently serves as the Director for the PCA Center for Sports Medicine in Salem and is an Associate Professor of Family and Sports Medicine at VCOM. Bolin resides in Roanoke with his wife Leena, and his sons Nick and John.
